My name is Chris Lyons, and I am the current treasurer of MAP. Throughout my time in college, I have always been involved. In fact, I have been involved in multiple different clubs and organizations. To me, involvement and new experiences are a large part of the college experience that everyone should participate in.
To be involved, one must be organized. It is important to remember that all though you may have more than one commitment, your number one priority must always remain academics. For me, my best organization tool is my Google calendar. The Google calendar program allows me to color code all of the different meetings, homework, and other requirements I have for a given week. I can also both send and receive invites through my Google Calendar. I believe one of the best parts of my Google Calendar is that I can sync it with my phone so that I always know where I am supposed to be and what I should be doing at all times. Although my Google Calendar may work for me, it may not be the ideal organizational tool for everyone. It is important that you find an organizational tool that works specifically for you.
Lastly, I am involved because it allows me to always do something. I have met many friends and awesome people through being involved over the past few years. It is statistically proven that if a student becomes involved in college, they are more likely to perform better in their classes. With so many offered clubs, organizations, and programs at Stevenson, I highly encourage you to try at least one.
Sincerely,
Chris
