Laugh Out Loud with MAP

In the past, MAP has done an event called LOL Stevenson where we would bring a comedian to campus and they would put on a big show. The show would be open to students as well as people in the surrounding area. A few years ago, we brought Gabriel Iglesias to campus as our LOL Stevenson headliner. This was a very successful event and it brought a lot of attention to Stevenson and MAP. It was a popular event and a lot of people looked forward to it each year.

This year, we have decided to do something a little different. Instead of just one LOL show, we decided to do a LOL series. This LOL series will span from February to April featuring a new comedian each month. The first comedian in the series was Chris “C Snacks” Clarke. He performed on Saturday, February 25th in Ratcliffe Community Center. Chris Clarke has his own pilot on the Cooking channel. He was on an episode of Beat Bobby Flay as a celebrity judge critic. He also has his own YouTube channel where he reviews different snacks. Chris had a great show, and everyone seemed to enjoy him. He enjoyed everyone that was in the audience. At the end of his show, he asked the audience to be a part of one of his snack review videos, so be on the lookout for it!

The second comedian in the LOL series will be here on March 22nd  in Rockland Banquet at 8pm. The featured comedian is Jen Kober. You may recognize her, as she’s been on some TV shows. She played Joan on Real Husbands of Hollywood. She was also on The Middle, The Mindy Project, and Anger Management, just to name a few! The final comedian in the LOL series is Francisco Ramos. He will be in Rockland Banquet on April 11th at 8pm. Francisco has voiced characters in the movies Rio and Marmaduke. We hope to see you at our LOL Series!

Introducing: Trivia Nights!

Hey Mustangs!

MAP is having an exciting Spring Semester and I wanted to share one of our newest events with you! When I first started at SU in October, one thing I heard is that our students wanted more “grown-up” events and activities. This semester, MAP is bringing you “Team Trivia” on March 20th and April 24th. Students will have the opportunity to start their own team and compete against other students in a variety of categories such as music, television, movies, science, “today in history” and more! The winning team will win $100 gift card to the local food establishment of their choice and there will be prizes for 2nd and 3rd place teams as well. MAP will be providing pizza, drinks, and giveaways (supplies limited) and there will be music played while teams are answering questions.  Ray Wroten is a local musician who also hosts trivia in several bars in the Baltimore area and he is very excited to join us at Stevenson!

We have a lot of other events happening right after Spring Break and we hope you’ll join us! On Wednesday, 3/22 we’ll have comedian Jen Kober. We’ll be giving away free baseball caps to the first 40 or so students at the event. On Friday, 3/24, MAP is collaborating with RHA to bring you Gift Card Bingo. We’ll have food and will be giving away lots of gift cards for Bingo winners. Lastly, on Saturday, 3/25, we’re having a concert featuring Nick Hagelin and Bryan Bautista who have been contestants on “The Voice.” It’s going to be an excellent show and we’ll be raffling off several themed baskets at this show. Watch one of their performances on The Voice with “Team Christina” here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6FZ5IMKbmI as well as their audition videos:

Travel Around the MAP

Mustang Activities and Programming (MAP) doesn’t just bring great events to campus but we also bring campus to great events. Just a couple of weeks ago MAP hosted a trip to an outdoor ice skating rink. We had a great turnout. Plus, the students loved it and many of them asked us to run the trip again in the future. So, if you weren’t able to go make sure you look out for it in the future!
Don’t worry if you missed that trip because we have many more coming up this semester! In fact, this Wednesday we are going to Sky Zone for only $8 which is less than half price! Tickets are still available at the rock if you want to go. An added bonus is that you get free socks with this trip.
If Sky Zone isn’t your thing, we have two other trips coming up. On April 22 we are taking a trip to see one of the last performances of Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus at Royal Farms Arena. After 146 years Barnum & Bailey is closing and we as Stevenson students have the opportunity to go FOR FREE. That is right, tickets will “go on sale” April 3 for the circus. There is a $5 deposit that you will get back when you show up the day of the event.
That isn’t all, the next weekend, April 29, we are doing something we have never done before at Stevenson: a mystery trip!! This is another free trip (with a $5 deposit) for all the students and like the circus trip tickets go “on sale” April 3. The catch is, it is a surprise. There are a couple things I can guarantee, though. It is less than an hour from school, family friendly, and most importantly it will be a lot of fun!
So, grab a friend and check out one of the many upcoming trips MAP is hosting for Stevenson students!
