Mustang Activities and Programming Board is proud to announce next year's Executive Board! After three rounds of interviews, we're excited to have an unique group of people to represent MAP and Student Activities for the 2017 to 2018 Academic Year.

Congratulations to MAP's future Executive Board and thank you to all of the applicants!

 President: Keyara Blackmon
Vice President of Membership: Amirah Russell
Vice President of Social Media and Marketing: Maya Murphy
Treasurer: Chris Lyons / Morgan Mahoney
Programmers: Joey Byrd, Yina Dong, Jessica Lewis, Krystal Alexis,                                                           Nicole Wenzel

Our future E-board is really excited to bring Stevenson a year filled with fun trips, dances, and big-scale events! Here are some of the things next year's Board is looking forward to.

"I'm excited about planning fun socials for the members," says future VP of Membership, Amirah.
Current and future Programmer Joey says, "I'm excited to show the new Programmers the ropes for next year's events, especially Wet N Wild Field Day and Carnival."
Keyara, future MAP President, is very excited "to work with new people who are enthusiastic about MAP and making it a better organization."

While we are thrilled to usher in this new group of leaders, plan next year's events, and invite new students to get to know MAP, some of us are sorry that we have to leave behind an organization that was so much a part of our college years. Below are some remarks from the graduating seniors of the E-board.

Current MAP President, Kris, is "going to miss spending time with the Executive Board and Mappies at events and socials."
Emily, current VP of Social Media and Marketing, says, "I'm definitely going to miss getting to experience all of the super fun events and conferences that I wouldn't be able to have done without MAP."
And finally, Taylor, VP of Membership, when asked about what she would miss, replied, "the Free T-Shirts".

Once again, congratulations to the future executive board members, and farewell to our graduating seniors!

Social Mappieflies

See what I did there? Butterflies? Mappieflies? Ok... I’ll stop now.

Anyways, in Map, our number one reason we can do awesome events is because of our Mappies! They are the backbone of this organization. They attend meetings and volunteer their time to work at events. We show our appreciation through socials! One example is laser tag! (Read about that in last week’s blog post!)

Last Friday we had Mappie game night! For a few hours, we all got together, ate Chickfila, and played board games! We had about 10 games that were available to play. You know what we did? We played ONE GAME THE WHOLE TIME! We teamed up, boys versus girls to play battle of the sexes. If we played by the exact rules, I’m pretty sure we would have been there all night. Overall, it was a really fun night where we all got to know each other a little better!

My First Time at Laser Tag

MAP members went laser tagging for one of our Mappie socials in March. I was beyond excited because I’ve wanted to go laser tagging since I was in middle school and this was my chance to go. In the past, whenever I wanted to go something always interfered, whether it be transportation, money, time or lack of people to go with. But now nothing was in my way and I was going with people I love being with.

I didn’t really know what to expect or how a laser tag arena would look, so I had no idea what to expect. When we got to the arena, there were a couple crane machines that you could find at an arcade. We turned the corner and there was a mini golf course. It took us a while to start playing laser tag because the group ahead of us was running late but when we finally got to play I had a blast. It was a little hot but when you’re having a lot of fun it doesn’t really matter because you don’t really notice it. We played 4 rounds, each lasting about 15-20 minutes. Each team won twice, so it worked out perfectly!

I wish we were able to stay longer but I definitely look forward to laser tagging again!

Hello everyone, my name is Chris Lyons, and I am the treasurer of MAP. As students of Stevenson University, we all pay tuition every semester. A part of our semesterly tuition is called the student activities fee. Many of you may be wondering where exactly your student activities fee actually goes. Well, your fee is divided within several different departments of the student activities office. One segment of your fee goes towards MAP. Within MAP we use our budget which is funded by your student activities to put on awesome events for the campus throughout the year including both small and large scale events.
Currently, MAP is reorganizing our events and overall schedule to use your student activities fee in a way that allows you to go on trips at an even lower rate, oftentimes being free. Also, MAP is currently working to provide more events to the campus, some of which repeating, than previously. We feel as though these two major changes will allow both more students to attend our trips and will make our events more appealing and welcoming to a wider audience.
I hope to see you all at some of our upcoming trips and new types of events!

Sincerely,
Chris Lyons
