Map has continuously outdone themselves with every event this year! Our board consists of 11 people. There is me, the President, a Vice President of Social Media and Marketing, a Vice President of Membership, a Treasurer, five Programmers, and two Advisors. Together we have put on 36 awesome events for the student body! Each individual on our board is unique, and brings to the table new and different ideas. I couldn’t be more pleased with the people that make up our board.
Taylor is our VP of Membership. She works so hard to make sure that our members, or as we lovingly refer to them--Mappies, are well informed, happy, and thanked! She plans socials for them to relax at since they spend so much of their time volunteering to make the student body’s college experience enriching.
Emily is our VP of Social Media and Marketing. Her job is to make sure that MAP is being promoted in a positive light as well as manage all of our social media pages and promote our upcoming events. Her job never ends. She constantly has to post, respond to questions, and promote. When she isn’t on social media she is coming up with cool ways to advertise to the campus.
Stephen is our Treasurer. He is very passionate about his job. He likes to say that he is behind, but when he says behind, he just means that he doesn’t have the future events’ budget updated! His attention to detail allows us to be aware of our budget at all times and ensures that we are staying on track!
We have five Programmers; Kris, Nicole, Shahrose, Keyara, and Luc. The five of them together have done an outstanding job. They support each other, they help each other, and they root for each other. Running an event isn’t always easy. There is so much work to be done prior to and after the event that most people never realize. These five dedicate their heart and soul to everything that they do!
But most importantly, MAP would not be the organization that it is without our wonderful advisors! Jeffrey and Hope have been essential to our success as a board! They don’t allow us to make rash decisions and they remind us to think of everyone and not just ourselves! I firmly believe that our board is so successful because we were blessed to have the two best advisors that an organization could have!
In my eyes, MAP is the greatest organization, and I am so thankful that I became involved with them my freshman year. I never thought that I would literally “be MAP” my senior year. However, my time spent on the board has shaped me into the person that I am today. I have learned so many great skills that will help me transition into the professional world. When I look back to college I will have the best memories and experiences to look back on.
Even though many of us are graduating or pursuing new goals next year, I have no qualms about the board that we have picked out for Stevenson next year! I know that we are leaving you in perfectly capable hands!
I’m so proud of my board and the experiences we have had together this year! "See you later"!
