I had a great time learning about how being a club President - you have to set a foundation for those who come after you to perform well. I also participated in a discussion on the Latinx community in college campuses. These Educational Sessions stood out the most to me because I was able to reflect on my experience and be grateful for a lot of the things we are able to do here at Stevenson and that our voices matter in the bigger picture of programming. I was also able to connect with other schools to share ideas and even met another programming board called MAP! Twinsies! These Ed Sessions made me more determined to take MAP to the next level and showcase more diversity on our campus. This will be my mission for the Spring Semester before I graduate.
During CAMP (Campus Activities Market Place), we were able to see crafts and giveaways that students might like. I am a personal fan of the fun Photo booth props they had and I think it would cute to have an event where we make an Instagram LA LA Land. I also think that the Virtual Reality gaming stations and Digital Caricature Drawings would be a hit amongst students. On instagram we did polls during the performance showcases to keep students in the loop (Check out the NACA highlight tab). We show contestants from the Voice and people who have been on Tyler Perry's shows! I really enjoyed the Spoken Word Artist as well. They all gave me something to think about and take a way, and I can't wait to pick people for the 3rd annual Laugh Cry Love. The Magicians were also super cool. One turned a Quarter I had in my hand into a different coin although I never opened my hand! WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?!
There were so many different experiences at NACA, but my favorite part of it all was to develop a closer relationship with all of the Mappies that attended and I couldn't have asked for a better last NACA for my senior year. I encourage all students to apply to attend the conference. It is truly an unforgettable experience. Especially because I almost pet an owl. I got scared after the owner told me she hadn't eaten ;/ but it's the almost that counts right?
