Why MAP?

Snap, Snap… (Looks around) Where am I? What time is it? Oh my gosh, it is senior year, and I am sitting in my apartment. I got here really fast, a lot faster than I expected. I can’t believe it’s almost over. This is the feeling that a lot of you will get in college, especially when you are participating in awesome events with cool people in MAP.
When I came to Stevenson University, I knew that I wanted to get heavily involved with programs at my school to make it greater than it already was, but I was unsure of what exactly I wanted to get involved with. Did I want to join SGA, ISA, RHA, MAP, Best Buddies, or start the dodgeball club? I made the choice to do all of them over time and even joined the Video Games Club before I started slowly to invest more time into less clubs. I sort of tested all of the clubs that sounded cool before I realized what I wanted to do. I thought about what I would like to possibly do for a career, and which clubs would help me gain skills to get where I wanted to go. I started the dodgeball club because I have a passion for playing the game and getting people to try it, I joined video games club because video games have always been a hobby in my life, and I chose to get on the MAP.
I chose to get on the MAP because it was really fun, and I had an interest in event planning. It is a job that I really liked and that I am still interested in today. One of the reasons that I like event planning is that I get to put a smile on people’s faces. Another reason is that a great event will be memory that somebody can remember forever. I still remember my uncle’s wedding from when I was 5 years old because it was one of the best days of my life. I want to create events that people can always look back on and say, “That was one of the best times of my life.” I enjoyed many MAP events from my first year and think about many of them till this day, so that is why I joined and felt that I could make the biggest impact on people through this organization.

This year, the new Executive Board and I are so excited to get started. Let’s make this MAP’s best year ever!
